About us

The area was incorporated in the late 1800 and became the home of dairy farmers, cheese makers, loggers and clammers, who supplied shells to two button factories in the area  .Fremont is a small, charming village of just over 700 residents, although thousands flock here every year in May to experience what the locals call “May Madness”. This phenomenon makes Fremont well known as “The White Bass Capital of the World” during the spring spawn. It is not uncommon for fishermen to take home over 2000 fish during a single week of fishing. 

The Village boasts many attractions for vacationers. Lodging accommodations include hotel/motel rooms, housekeeping cottages, resorts, and campgrounds. Dining choices include a variety of small inviting diners to taverns serving pizza and burgers. Fremont has several beautiful supper clubs for a romantic evening or family dining. The Chamber of Commerce supports three separate municipalities, the Village of Fremont, the Town of Fremont, and the Town of Wolf River.  All are nestled on the pristine Wolf River in Northeast Wisconsin, which is the definition of unspoiled natural beauty and your premier destination for recreation and relaxation. When you explore the area, you will find everything from fishing, boating, water sports, golf courses and nature trails to lodging, dining and shopping.

Emergency Medical Technicians are available by calling 911. 

Fremont
Police & Fire Departments

The Fremont Police force is part-time and backed up by the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department. When on duty, the non-emergency police number is 920-446-2299. The emergency number is 911. During off hours, the non-emergency number is answered by the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department. The police office is located in the Village Hall.

The Fremont-Wolf River Fire Department and Emergency Medical Technicians are available by calling 911. The Fire Department force is entirely volunteer and is located on Waupaca Street.

Neuschafer Community Library of Fremont provides access to books, DVDs, audiobooks, board games, and toys for free! Additionally, exciting children's, adult, and family programming is available at no cost.

Elementary
School

Serves K-5 grades. It is part of the Weyauwega-Fremont School District. The schoolyard has basketball hoops, a baseball diamond, a soccer field, and assorted playground equipment. The Middle School and High School are located in nearby Weyauwega.

Weyauwega-Fremont
High School

Serves 9-12 grades. It is part of the Weyauwega-Fremont School District.
